Solidarity with Mizzou
Tonight at 7 p.m. on the Diag
The School of Social Work People of Color Collective is calling ALL STUDENTS OF COLOR & ALLIES to come together to stand in solidarity with Mizzou and black students/people in this nation. We are all aware of what is happening at Mizzou. And it is utterly disgusting, to make it worse we are not talking about it, we are not addressing it and professors are refusing to discuss it due to it being “irrelevant and unimportant.”
We are the #1 public institution in the world, we are angry, we are saddened, we are in pain and we need to be heard. What is happening at Mizzou can very well be happening here so we need to stand up and show this is not okay. This is very real, very serious regardless of it being 2015.
Although we as students of color in the SSW and at U of M make up a small percentage of the population, we have a voice and we need to ensure it is heard. If you consider yourself an ally, you need to come stand with us as well.
We will meet in front of the School of Social Work at 6:30 and then walk over to the Diag to show our support there. Please make banners, totems, signs, everything to show your support and dress warm because regardless of weather this is happening.
WE STAND WITH MIZZOU! WE STAND WITH POC IN THIS NATION! WE STAND AGAINST VIOLENCE TARGETED AT POC!
And we are showing that TONIGHT!
