No Confidence
To the Eastern Michigan University Community:
At the December 11, 2015 meeting of the Department of Teacher Education at Eastern Michigan University (EMU), the faculty and Department Head passed a unanimous vote of no confidence in the leadership of the EMU Board of Regents. Given the Board of Regents’ gross violation of its own Code of Ethics, the Teacher Education Faculty and Department Head have no confidence in the Board members’ ability to be faithful stewards of Eastern Michigan University.

Right now we need your help! Our goal is to accumulate enough funds in order to purchase tools such as a seeder and various hand tools we were without in our first season. We will also use these funds for materials such as non-GMO seeds, drip hoses, and row covers, and to provide food, snacks & refreshments for all of our amazing volunteers.
The Routine Lies of Prison Officials
Geraldine Matthews

On December 14th, civil rights leader and political prisoner Rev. Edward Pinkney will have spent a year in Michigan state prison. An all-white jury convicted him of five felony counts of forgery for changing dates next to signatures on a petition drive for a recall election, though no evidence of guilt was presented. The trial was distinguished mainly by its outrageous violations of due process and constitutional rights. Judge Sterling Schrock sentenced him to 30 months to 10 years and denied bond pending appeal, despite Pinkney posing no flight risk and despite the near-certainty that his conviction will be overturned on appeal. While Pinkney’s appeal proceeds slowly through the grinding gears of the judicial system, he remains in the clutches of the state.

—The unelected DDA board decides how over $26 million per year of taxes and parking revenues are spent on less than a half square mile area
—The DDA gives sorely needed tax dollars to already-wealthy developers
